Coming to America

September 17, 2017

When I first got to America I didn't know that much, so I was pretty much clueless. It was a good thing I had my dad to help me. I was always moving all the time so I didn’t really get to make many friends. I was in Texas for a couple years living with my grandma. We were there because my dad was overseas for 2 years and my mom didn’t know how to live in America, so he left us with my grandma.

It all happened when my dad was part of the army and showed up in Thailand and met my mom. I really have no memories before I got to America, but my parents told me about it. I did live in America for a little while, then we had to move to Korea for 2 years and come back to Georgia a little later. It was pretty okay. One time we went to visit my grandma who lives in Oklahoma, and when we came back maggots were all over the place. I don’t know where they came from. Then I had to go live in Korea again for two years.

After 2 years in Korea I flew back to Texas and my aunt picked us up. We stayed with her for a little bit too. We had to go to my grandma's house and live there until I got settled in. I then came to school at Riverton in 2nd grade. I knew we were here to stay, so I made some new friends here too. As I got through school, I started making more friends. It was good knowing I didn’t have to leave. School was pretty hard in America compared to Korea. Now I'm here. Anyway, that’s my whole life story. #newkid #Koreakid #ThailandMainland
