My favorite memory is a certain Fourth of July weekend when I was about eight or nine years old. It was a great weekend. On July third, me, my mom, and my sister went to see The Lion King play in Tulsa. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed our time there. Then we made our way to my Uncle David and Aunt Regina’s house. We spent the night there and I watched TV with my older cousin Sayre. Once we tried to get some sleep, there was no noise, just pure country silence. I wasn’t used to the quiet at all. I barely even slept, which resulted in me being really tired the next day. I still muscled through the sleepiness and had a good time that Fourth of July.
The next day is when the real fun began. All of the Weaver’s came over and we had a blast. We made snacks, played in the hose, shot firecrackers, and so much more. I had a lot of fun with my older cousins. Me and my cousins Gary-Don and Tank even had a burping competition. (I won). Me and my second-cousins Tehya and Avery played on the trampoline until our legs hurt. I chased my cousin Sayre around and wrestled him. We all ate BBQ, pie, Jello, cookies, cake, and lots more. We all felt so bloated and fat afterwards! The air smelled like all of the yummy foods mixed together, which was surprisingly delicious! However, after a while, you couldn’t smell anything but smoke from all the fireworks. My cousin Jake taught me how to shoot a roman candle in the air. I was so scared at the time, but he helped me get over the fear!
This is one of the only really happy memories I have. I can really hate my family sometimes, but this memory reminds me that they can be fun. Every year I look forward to seeing my cousins, so that I can joke around with them. My cousin Jake is now in the Air Force. I miss him a lot, but I send him letters to tell him what the Weavers’ are up to. In conclusion, this memory makes me think about how much I enjoy my family.
