One of my favorite memories is our vacation to Hawaii. When we went to Hawaii we flew there. Longest plane ride ever! It was 9 hours of nothing. When we arrived, I was tired but super excited to be there! There is a 5 hour difference in the time zones. As soon is we got off the plane, I got to experience some of the Hawaiian culture. One of the things the natives do is give leis to their guest. Leis are a ring or necklace of flowers. It was cold on your skin, but it smelled amazing! We stayed on a military base with my dad’s best friend from high school who is in the military.
The next morning I awakened at 3 am, because of the time difference. That day we were just getting use to everything, so we just when to the beach for the day. The water was bright blue and so pretty. We decided to take a drive around the whole island. It only took about 2-3 hours. There were so many beautiful sights! We stopped to get snow cones and there was a lot of stray cats and jungle fowl. Jungle fowl are chickens. That's what the Hawaiians call them.
We stayed one night on the beach. When it got dark, we went outside and the sky was so clear, we saw a bunch of different stars! It was so cool lying out on the beach just looking up! In the morning, the jungle fowl woke us up. We went to another beach for snorkeling. I cannot describe to you how amazing it was! There were so many pretty fish and just beautiful, colorful corals. Another day, we hiked a 3-mile high mountain. It was so pretty at the top, but that hike was very long. Hawaii was just an amazing experience. I wish I could go back! It has probably been the best vacation I have ever been on.
