Hello guys, I'm going to tell you my favorite memory! Me and my Dad pretty much lived on the river during the summer of 2018. Everyday we’d go to the river until dark, but one night we didn't get off the river until four in the morning. It all started one day when my dad came home and asked, “Wanna go to town with me?” I had nothing to do, so I said, “Yeah, sure.” We went to Sonic to get a drink, and he asked me what I wanted to do for the evening. I said “Lets go to the river!” Because that's all we usually did.
We went to Petro in Joplin for something, and he bought a little light bar and I thought it was going to be bright enough in the boat to shine out in the dark to see all the river. We went to Baxter Springs, to Spring River and put the boat in at about 9:30 pm. We started to go down the river and Dad turned that light on, but it wasn’t bright enough for him to see, so we went back to the boat ramp and put the boat back on the trailer. We went back to Petro and got a bigger light bar!We went all the way home, and mounted this one on the boat. Then, we headed to the river again.
This time, we picked up Riley's dad, which we've known forever. By the time we got to the river this time, it's like 11:40 pm. We put the boat into the water and Dad turned the light bar on. It was super bright, so you could actually see like all the way down the river. We took a boat ride down river, traveling so far my Dad could hardly tell where we were; just going slow, looking at the stars, telling funny stories about him as a child, all the while he was telling me to never do what he did as a kid. We just sat at the river talking until about 3:30 am. When we finally loaded the boat and left the river, it was 4:00 am. We went to Pete’s in Baxter and I got a coffee and some donuts trying to not fall asleep. I just love this memory so much, because it takes me back to that great summer, and explains the relationship I had with my dad. I miss these kind of memories so much, and I miss going to the river with him a lot. #favoritememory #justmeandmydad #I’llalwaysremember
