One of my favorite memories happened around 2 years ago. About two weeks before I started sixth grade, my mom, dad, older sister and I went to Kansas City. We went for two reasons. The first reason was that we were going to watch a baseball game, Royals and some other team. My dad bought us really good seats near the field, so we got to go down to a little “dining area” to eat before the game. There was a lot of delicious food there. We sat at a small table, with four really soft chairs. There were huge T.V.s down there, so we watched what was on them while we waited. They just played boring sports shows. I wasn’t very hungry, so I just had a little bit of shrimp, which was kind of bland, some Dr. Pepper, that tasted a sweeter than normal, as well as some orange flavored ice cream (Totally healthy, I know.) When we went outside, it was extremely hot. I, of course, forgot to put on sunscreen, so I got a bright red sunburn on my arms and thighs. Since I don’t really care for sports, I don’t remember much of what happened. When the game ended, we went to our hotel room. It was pretty small, but pretty. I took a hot shower, put on new clothes, and watched cartoons on Nickelodeon. We stayed there for a few hours, then my dad and I left to see a Weird Al concert.
My dad bought us V.I.P. tickets to the concert. Because of that, we both got bags with a red hat, a poster and flag with album art, a Mad magazine, and badges, to get into the VI.P. section. When we got there, it was really bright outside, and we had to go through security, then we were free to walk around until the show started. We got Dr. Pepper to drink during the show, and bought Weird Al merchandise from a little cart. There were dark gray shirts with album art and tour dates, red hats, colorful pins and posters, as well as action figures. My dad let me get a Weird Al “Action Figure” for Al to sign. We sat down, and waited for about 45 minutes for the concert to finally start. While we were waiting, an old couple came and sat next to us. They were really weird, but funny. They were both dressed in bright Hawaiian shirts, baggy khaki shorts, white socks, sandals, colorful fanny packs, and straw hats. They talked to us about how excited they were to finally see Weird Al perform, because they were such big fans. The show finally started and we were ecstatic. We had been waiting for months to watch him, and it was finally happening. The stage was all black, and all of the instruments and microphones were sitting up there. The concert was absolutely hilarious. There was a big screen that played some of Weird Al’s guest appearances on cartoons, like The Simpsons and Adventure Time, which I thought was really cool. When the concert ended, it was pitch black outside, I had a headache from the loud music, and my stomach was hurting from laughing so much. Security guards dressed in black and gray came out and led us to the room where we met Weird Al. Both the floors and walls were light tan, and there were white tables everywhere. There were also guys in Storm trooper costumes, which I found humorous. Luckily, we were close to the front of the line. There were a lot of people from different age groups waiting. We only had to wait around 15 minutes to finally get up to the front. We finally got to meet Al, and he was really nice. He was dressed in a red shirt and jeans, which seemed kind of strange, since he was dressed in costumes during the show. We talked to him for a bit, then took a picture. I was shaking because I was both nervous and excited, so in the picture, I look a bit blurry (Just my luck.)
We finally left, and went back to our hotel. The ride home was a bit too calm, since all we heard that night were loud noises. My dad and I talked about how much we enjoyed the show, and how we would go to another show if we could. We got back, and my mom and sister were laying down, on the bright white beds, watching T.V. We told them all about what happened. My legs were sore from standing in the line, so I layed down on the bed. It was completely white, comfy, and messed up since we already moved the blankets and pillows around. I wanted to stay there forever, but my dad asked if I wanted to go get snacks with him. I obviously said yes, because I was hungry, so we left the hotel again, and headed to a gas station. Inside, the walls were white, and the floor tiles were light gray. The cashier there was really weird. He was dressed in a blue shirt. He kept asking us questions, and both my dad and I were really uncomfortable. While we were there, I got blue Hawaiian punch, and Chex Mix (The cheese kind.) We went to the hotel again, then told my mom and sister about the weird guy. We ate our snacks, then finally settled down and went to sleep. Such an unforgettable time in my life! #FavoriteMemory #Concert #KansasCity
