Talented TAs

Who does TA’s? Mrs. Rawlins, Mr. Smith, Mr. Babcock, Ms. Richardson, those are just some of the 8th grade TA’s there’s so many more! What are TA’s? Extracurricular classes that teaches students social skills. When? The last period of the day. Where? In your assigned classroom. Why? For educational purposes. How? Teachers made the idea to teach everyone about character.

What do we do in TA? We learn a lot about character and bullying awareness. We also discuss what we learned about that week. We also do a lot of group activities. Just recently we did partner posters about 9/11. One time we did an activity where students would go around the room and have a minute to figure some things that they have in common it was based around the same concept as speed-dating. We did a section over bullying and how words affect you (it got a little emotional) the students after talking about how words can affect you had to write about an instance in which they were bullied they could turn it into their teacher anonymously or with their name on it.

Every Friday we write a 5 sentence summary about what we learned that week and what we’re excited for that upcoming weekend.

What are my personal thoughts and other student’s opinions about TA? I personally really like TA I think it’s a great bonding experience for me and my classmates. Other kids opinions may be different. From what I’ve heard, a lot of kids enjoy TA and others are neutral about TA.

In conclusion, other students and I really enjoy this class, I hope that high school offers an opportunity like this. I also hope that future middle school students do not take this class for granted, because it is a lot better than having a common core class at the end of the day.
